About Argent Silversmith

At Argent, we don't just make jewellery, we handcraft heirlooms that carry meaning. From our light-filled workshop in Tawonga South, nestled beneath the Victorian Alps, we create each piece slowly and sustainably using recycled precious metals and traditional techniques. Our team is small, talented, and supportive.

As the business grows, we're excited to welcome new hands to the bench and fresh energy to our female-led studio, grounded in craftsmanship and a strong sustainability ethos.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Jeweller to join our workshop team. You'll work across the full lifecycle of our bespoke and made to order pieces.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled jeweller with strong bench experience who loves working in a tight-knit team and takes pride in delivering beautifully crafted, heirloom-quality pieces in a creative, independent studio environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hand-crafting engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewellery from start to finish (including wax carving & wax injection)
  • Extensive knowledge of setting precious and semi-precious stones in a variety of setting styles (bezel, flush/gypsy/star setting)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of setting all sizes and shapes of diamonds and coloured stones
  • Perform resizing, soldering, polishing, engraving and custom builds
  • Polishing and finishing pieces to a high standard, working with precious metals including Sterling Silver, 9K and 18K gold, and platinum
  • Assist with and lead custom jewellery production
  • Maintain workshop organisation and uphold strict quality control standards
  • Accurately track and record daily tasks within our production management system
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including feedback on production techniques and design refinements
  • Support and guide apprentices and trainees in their technical development
  • Uphold exceptional standards of craftsmanship and quality control
  • Continue developing your technical skills through hands-on experience and training
  • Work closely with, and report to, the Production Manager, Customer Service Team & Jewellers

About You
  • Minimum of 10 years hands-on setting experience across a wide variety of styles, with proven skills in gypsy & bezel setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of producing fine, heirloom-quality work
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your time, while contributing positively to a small and supportive team. Reliable, warm, and not afraid to get a bit dusty.

Perks
  • Work in a quiet, mountain-based studio away from the bustle
  • Generous staff discounts
  • Fun events including staff skiing days

Compensation

$70k per year (full-time), pro rata at 4 days per week.

Please note: This role involves extended periods of sitting and fine manual work at the bench. Applicants must be physically capable of performing repetitive tasks and maintaining focus during hands-on production hours, in line with the inherent requirements of the position. Reasonable adjustments can be discussed where required.
